Jabal Shams Resort, a modern camping site, rising some 3,000 metres above sea level, stands almost sentinel-like over the mountainous landscape of the Interior region.
It is this lofty feature of Jabal Shams that distinguishes it from other mountains in Oman and the neighbouring countries. The summit glitters in the morning sunshine and is bathed in gentle hues at dusk.
